Just Breathe!

Breathing is automatic. You don’t wake up in the morning and think, “Okay, lungs—let’s get to work.” Praise God for that! But when it comes to singing, breathing isn’t just about survival—it’s about support.

Have you ever tried to sing higher notes and felt like you hit a ceiling? Or wanted to project your voice but felt stuck at a whisper? Chances are, your breath support (or lack of it) is part of the problem.

Diaphragmatic breathing, also known as belly breathing, is the key.

Here’s a quick check:
Place one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach. Take a deep breath in. Did your chest rise, or did your stomach expand? If your chest rises, you’re using shallow breath. If your stomach moved outward, congratulations—you’re breathing like a singer.

Want help learning diaphragmatic breathing and incorporating it into your singing? Lets work together!
